Stake Ventures

While I have been working on this since this summer, I haven’t been too public about what I’m doing lately. People who know me well and have followed my articles since summer might have guessed what I’m up to.

Anyway, I’ve returned essentially to the basic goal that I’ve been working on for the past 8 years. Since my CorpFlow project in the late 90’s and NeuClear which I conceived of in 2000. I’ve had the goal of trying to recreate online versions of some of the useful concepts and institutions that hold the world of commerce together. I will write another day in about some of the things that I learned from this.

Cleaning up

In the past couple of years I’ve been working on various kinds of projects where I have had the same basic core goal, just more hidden away. Many of these projects in particular my WideOffice suite of services could probably do relatively well. But I am shelving them for now. WideWord and WideBlog will continue to be supported, just don’t expect much new development on them. StakeItOut will be shut down as I announced last year.

WideOffice, WideSlide and WideSheet are not going to be further developed. Unless someone is interested in taking them over. Please write me at pelle@stakeventures.com if you are interested.

A new partner

On the new venture we’ve founded I have brought in Lau as a co-founder. Lau was probably one of the first Rails developers who wasn’t called David. He is also very smart on the business side of things, but even more important we share a common vision of how the world should be and what we need to do to change it. Needless to say I’m thrilled to be working with Lau.

A new venture

Our new venture is called Extra Eagle and we are currently in internal beta of our first new service. What the service is we won’t tell just yet, but we will be planting a few hints on the Extra Eagle Blog over the next week or two, so be sure to subscribe. You might also prepare yourself and find further hints in the articles on this blog, in particular in the legal section.

What we can promise is that we aim to break some ground in a field that is begging for disruption.
