Arrived in San Francisco 5
We are now safely in San Francisco installed in a temporary apartment. I’ve already met quite a few interesting people and building up my network.
We were pretty lucky getting out as Copenhagen was hit by a blizzard about an hour or so after our plane left that quite literally brought the airport and city to a standstill for several days. Unfortunately SF hasn’t offered us too much in the way of sunny weather yet either, but at least it’s better than a blizzard.
Anyway it’s great to be here in the home of the best burrito’s in the world. We’re in the SOMA district and just walking to the supermarket is inspirational as every building we pass seems to house another grouping of startups.

Hey,
Glad you got there safely, hopefully the sun will start shining again soon :-)
FYI , if you like the Mexican food in San Fran/NoCal, I have to say it is NOTHING compared to San Diego/SoCal Mexican food (being so close to the border).
I guess I took it for granted living in San Diego most of my life, but once I started working in the bay I found myself throwing fits on the daily regarding the state of the Mexican food there. Even in the Mission, I couldn’t find a decent set of rolled tacos!
I was completely spoiled and won’t even comment on the state of spanish/mexican food here in Holland, its a far distant but loved memory of mine at this point.
Though you might find some good burritos, I’d highly suggest taking a trip down south (Even to Rosarito/Ensenada/Baha if you can), you won’t regret it.
Hi Marston, It’s definitely on our plans to go to LA/SD and also across the border.
You are definitely more of an expert that I am, but I have to say I’m just so happy to be here in a place that knows what an enchilada is, hell even what Pico de Gallo is.
In Europe as you well know Mexican restaurants offer nothing more than tears and deception for lovers of Mexican food.
Welcome, indeed! I am a bit bummed that I didn’t get to take advantage of a visit to Denmark while you were there.
Hey, welcome to SF!
Like you, I recently moved to SF. It’s a great place and people are extremely kind. They’re just missing two things compared to Europe: nice public transportation and healthy food. Apart from that, it’s just an amazing country! :-)
Hey,
Glad we hooked up just before our short ski week, more in an email. I’ve been checking your Blog every once in a while to see how you’re doing. I guessed you just made it out of CPH in time – didn’t know how close it was. I stayed home on the Thursday – my daughters birthday and we had a “hyggeligt” day at home – build a fire, made popcorn, watched a film, osv.
Look forward to more tales, as they unfold. Cheers!
